Murray tops Federer to reach Qatar final (AP)
Defending champion Andy Murray beat Roger Federer 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-2 on Friday to reach the final of the Qatar Open, his fourth straight win over the former top-ranked player. Murray, who improved his career record against Federer to 5-2 in tour matches, will face Andy Roddick in Saturday's final. "It is good to have beaten him," Murray said.

All-Pro center Kevin Mawae won't play in the Tennessee Titans' AFC divisional playoff game with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. Mawae has not practiced since hurting his right elbow Dec. 21. The team issued its final injury report Friday and listed Mawae as out. That means second-year lineman Leroy Harris will start his second straight game and his first playoff game.

Gators earn BCS title in sloppy affair (AP)
The game defied expectations. Tim Tebow fulfilled them. He rescued No. 1 Florida, running through and throwing over No. 2 Oklahoma for a 24-14 victory Thursday night that gave the Gators their second BCS championship in three years. It was hardly a high-wattage matchup of Heisman winners -- more a sloppy, choppy affair that the rough-and-tumble Tebow took over at the end.

Barkley taking leave of absence from TNT (AP)
Charles Barkley is taking a leave of absence from the broadcast booth. The announcement by Turner Sports came Friday, hours after police said the 45-year-old former NBA star was legally drunk when he was arrested Dec. 31 on suspicion of drunken driving in Scottsdale, Ariz. Test results show Barkley had a blood-alcohol level at .149, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Arizona.

ADHD exemptions still rising in baseball (AP)
ADHD was on the rise in the baseball again last season. A total of 106 exemptions for banned drugs were given to major leaguers claiming Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder from the end of the 2007 season until the end of the 2008 season, according to a report released Friday by the sport's independent program administrator.
